help me pick---howa, cz, savage, or another rem
I am looking for a new rifle. It will be mostly for prairie dogging and target shooting out to 700 yards.
I have and have had remingtons and winchesters. I was kinda looking for something new and looking for a good value.
I like the tactical look so I have it narrowed down to these:
1. Cz 550 in a McMillan stock--like one being auctioned here: about $1000
2. Savage 10fp in the same McMillan stock: about $800
3. Howa Varminter Supreme in Boyd Stock: about $600
4. Or, another remington PSS or VS: about $700
I would appreciate anyone's opinions/experiences with these rifles especially concerning their out of box accuracy....thanks

I would go with the Howa and put your savings towards a good scope. From everything I have heard and seen they are very good rifles for the money.

I would go with the CZ first, because of their awesome factory trigger. My second choice would be the Savage, which also has a great trigger. My third choice (only because I don't have any experience with them) would be the Howa.

my brother purchaesed 2 remington 700's they where the heavy barrel stainless varmint models , 1 is a 22-250 they other is in 223, neither one shoots worth a darn 1 to 1-1/2" groups are the best and thats with not only different factory ammo but also tring several different reloads , both rifles have new Burris Black Diamond scopes on them, to say the least he is very unhappy with Remington [xx(] 0 -
If you enjoy unlimited funds, get the CZ and put a Zeiss on it. If not, the savings that you have with the Howa should allow a Leupold V-III. I wouldn't sell my 10 yr old Howa Heavy .308 for less that the cost of a new car. 0 -
Savage with new accutrigger will probably outshoot those other rifles out with factory loads out of the box. I seen them at the range shoot 1/2MOA with factory loads with no mods. 0 -
SAVAGE.

i would go with the savage, they are accurate, and the John Plaster stock on it is really nice too. I dont think stock is a McMillan, but im not 100%. either way, its a nice gun, i would def. go with savage. 0
