.22 rifle bores
I just recieved a new barrel for my Mossberg Mod 44US. I was suprised to see that the rifleing in the new barrel was not a lot deeper or sharper than the old barrel. Maybe the old barrel is better than I thought. But when I compare the rifleing in the new Mossberg barrel to the rifleing in a new Stevens 416 barrel, the rifleing in the new Stevens barrel seems to be much deeper and sharper than the Mossberg barrel. Do different manufacturers rifle their barrels that much differently?

Yes

Yep, there can be visible differences. Keep in mind it is actually very hard to "wear out" a 22bbl. Corrosion and neglect can do it, but the average person will never fire enough rounds to show wear.If its nice and bright the odds are its still good. More damage is done by cleaning from the muzzle end than by shooting.
Love them Pre-64's!!!!-Bob0
