Kel Tec 223 Sport Rifle
Could I get some of the more experienced AR guys opinions on the pros and cons of the new Kel Tec. I will be buying my first AR soon after leaving the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. TIA...

I'm a big KelTec fan, owned a number of their pistols over the years. When the 223 rifle went on the market last year, I was very interested, till I got a chance to handle one.
Way to much plastic for the money, $500+ where I live. If it sold for $300 -$350, it would be viable. Go with the real thing, get a AR clone.

jeffryb..... I have several AR type rifles that I use for competition and hunting. They are great guns and worth the money.
I bought one of the Kel-Tec SU-16's a few months ago and I like it. I payed 400 for it. It is not supposed to be a replacement for the AR, just a handy little utility rifle, thats why it costs about half as much as an AR.
I like the light weight, and a major selling point for me was that it uses AR mags. It shoots about 2" at 100 yds and thats ok for what this little gun is intended for. It is reliable, and can be folded for transportation and storage.
You just need to decide what kind of performance you expect, and how much you want to pay for your new rifle and go from there.

I own two of their handguns and like them very much, a good gun for the money. I have shot the subgun and was not impressed.
