Leupold VX-1 vs Rifleman

Can any of tell me the difference between these two scopes?
The kid at the store was totally clueless about anything other than the girl across the isle who was hanging up sweat shirts.
They are priced pretty much the same and i was looking at a rifleman at a store today and i really did not notice that it was much if any different from my VX-1 in 2x7.
Why would Leupold put out two scopes of the same power range,objective size,and priced as i said,pretty much the same??

Thinking of a Christmas gift for my brother.

  I believe the Rifleman's not quite as good a quality in the lense dept, as the VX models. If you havn't looked through a lot of them you might not even notice the difference. A new shooter sure wouldn't....

  I have been shoping around for scopes and ran into the same question. The major difference at least that i could find is that the rifleman has 1/2moa adjustments and the vx1 has 1/4moa (one click=1/2"@100yds vs 1/4"@100yds) thus makeing the vx1 a better choice for target shooting.
