SKS paratrooper
How many different versions of this gun were there? I found two at a shop here recently I had never seen before. They had a stock that looked like a standard SKS stock, except the butt was longer and ended in a thin rubber butt pad. I liked it better than the regular short stock. Also, one gun had the regular, fixed 10rd. clip. The other took detachable AK mags. Both were Chinese, with the 16 inch barrels, and had matching numbers. I've seen paratroopers with the short stock, and the sporter version with the thumbhole stock, but not these. By the way, the fixed mag gun was pricedunder $200, the Ak mag gun was about $225. Did I pass up a bargain?

Depending on how "used" the rifles were, the paratrooper with the fixed mag would have been an ok deal. But the AK mag para should be jumped on as soon as possible. here in indiana the best deal i have seen on a sks with ak mags is $350 range. run to that shop and buy it! 0 -
Yes, hurry and buy the one that takes AK mags

Well, I blew it. The Ak mag gun is gone. I did buy the other para. for $179. Both guns were new. The owners wife runs the shop now, since the owner passed away earlier this year. These were two guns she said he bought about 12 years ago and had but up in the back of the shop. He who hesitates---[:(]

That's a very good price on the "paratrooper". Sorry you missed out on the "M" model. I traded a S&W M-36 pistol for mine last week because I didn't have the cash and was afraid I might lose out if I waited any longer. I hope it wasn't the one you saw. I got mine in a pawn shop in NC. The 'paratrooper" model is one of my favorites. I think you will always be glad you bought it. Congratulations on your purchase. 0 -
Just as a note of interest, 'The SKS Carbine' by Kehaya and Poyer states that 'The Paratrooper SKS is of Chinese manufacture, was made only for commercial sale in North America, and was never manufactured for the Chinese or any other military'. But that's OK, I have 4 SKS's and they are a lot of fun to shoot.
