Browning was originally a designer in the employ of Oliver Winchester. When J.M. Browning invented the auto loading shotgun and presented a working model to Winchester, it was Winchester that said that the design would never sell. At this point the two parted company and J.M.B. took his ideas to the other major gun manufacturers in the county, Stevens, Savage and Remington.

your shotgun is a stevens model 520 or 620 (streamlined version) information on these two stevens shotguns and their years of production are available in just about all the pricing guides.
i don't believe browning ever worked for winchester, he just sold them some of his patents. john moses browning and his brothers had their own gun business in utah. i have a long out of print book called 'john m. browning: american gun maker' written by john browning and curt gentry published by doubleday & company in 1964. this book gives a good history and biography of john m. browning and a good listing of his firearms and their patents.

You mention that this is a pump shotgun. I've seen a number of these around gunshops here. Is yours a takedown? They are pretty reliable and sturdy, but don't command a high price. If I remember right, a short barreled version of this gun was carried in WW1 as a trench gun.
Is it true that cannibals won't eat clowns cause they taste funny?0 -
No its not a takedown 0
