Need help: Value of SKB 500 in 28 GA
I have a chance to acquire a like new SKB 500 in 28 GA from an estate. It is not an Ithaca/SKB. It was made in Matsui, Japan, has a blued engraved receiver and has fixed chokes. The condition is 99+%. Can anyone give me a fair market value that I can offer the seller? I've checked the auction listings on gunbroker (both current and completed) but can't find a 28 gauge offered. Thank you.

Good morning shootit! My one book that has some info on SKB shows the standard field grade, (no engravng)in the condition you stated, around $600-$700. It does list the Md 505 with engraving would go for $900-$1100. However sometimes with small ga. guns, that goes by the way side. Not many 28ga. guns made compared to 12 or 20's. The more open the chokes are can effect it too. Meaning Full and Mod. are common, Imp/Cyl and Mod. a little less common. In this case how bad do you want it? Hope this helps you. Regards Dave 0 -
Thanks Dave for the information. Based on your information, I guess the $650 price sounds reasonable.

Hello for that condition and price you can't go wrong 0 -
650 in that condition is about right 0 -
Model 500 SKB in 28 ga. blued with Walnut stock was imported 1966-1979. Not as high of value as the 505. VG to Exc. is about $450-600.
As stated by others, small ga. like this is difficult to price, and even at $650 that's a lot better gun then the cheap Ruski guns. If it's what you like don't fret about $100 either way.
You'll like the 28 ga.0 -
Thanks to all for the info. I knew I could depend on this forum for good advice.
