ruger model 96 lever gun
Has anyone owned one of these? I am thinking of buying my son one in 44 mag. It's kinda ugly but i think it might make him a good gun becuase he's 15 but still kinda short in the britches lol

Great gun. Enjoy.

I don't like it. (What am I offered?) The stock is the problem. It's too short, the comb is too high (makes it hard to use the iron sights and the curved steel buttplate combine to make the recoil worse than it should be for a gun in this caliber. A different stock would make all the difference in the world. 0 -
Got to agree with grunt.
I have a couple of carbine length 44mags, and I traded out that one because the geometry of all the rear furniture is terrible. Kicked and jumped too much. I was gonna make another stock, but I found a guy that wanted a trade. Marlin and Win make some short 44 mags, even if you have to trim the stock length.0 -

I have always liked hammerless lever actions ever since I had a Marlin 57M 22 mag. It was stupid on Ruger's part to have cast in the ugly lump on top of the receiver.
They should offer a 16" bbl International version. That's all the bbl a 44 mag needs.
I have a Savage 219 30-30 and would love to have a 44 mag bbl for it.
