Shipping Ammunition - Small Box - UPS, FedEx or ?

I have a small box of ammo to ship (12 gauge slugs - 5 boxes). From what I gather, the Post Office won't, but UPS & FedEx will.

Well the local UPS guy tells me that it'll be $15 to ship it ground because a signature confirmation is required. This doesn't sound right, as I've recieved ammo with no signature - does anybody out there know better? The UPS website was sooo helpful - not.

Is Fedex a better choice or do I just try another UPS outlet?

    Yeah your right can't ship ammo through the post office. Find another UPS store or ask to speak with a manager most of the desk jockey's at the counter don't know. I've never had to have a signature confirmation on any of the ammo I've shipped.

    I don't approve of political jokes. I've seen too many of them get elected.

    It seems to UPS policy that they will only process packages of ammo if the shipper brings the container to the terminal or pays the $4 to have the package picked up. I've had shipments refused several times at agent (e.g. Staples) locations and at "The UPS Store."

    There is *NO* signature requirement for ammo shipments. That is BS.

    You must use a common carrier to ship ammo as D@D noted. Both companies give the terminal managers / drivers a lot of latitude (or perhaps these worthies take it on themselves), so in some areas you will find some real PC jerks hassling you about ammo shipments with one carrier and not the other. This doesn't seem to be consistent within either company or in any given region - just a reflection of the BS some tiny turkey throws out to puff his ego. If you have problems with both of them, call an HQ and have them kick some tail for you.

    they will ship ammo,[ups] for contracted customers at regular rates without container declaration, anyone else, you pay extra!!!
