Hello Most CLAW type mounts were one of a kind fitted to the gun by the builder.A good machine shop might be able to mill the small ring off the base and then weld a larger ring to your claw base.

The original claw mounted scope adds considerably to the value of your rifle. If you are willing to spend $300-$500 you can have a new set of rings made, but it would be a shame to alter the original rings.

    Richard,

Here are the folks to contact regarding the claw mounts on your rifle.

The company that manufactures these is:

This style of mount is not inexpensive but it is the ultimate in classic scope mounts. Whatever you do, don't damage the ones that you have or do anything that detracts from the original mounting. As is pointed out above, these are usually hand fitted to each individual rifle by a craftsman metalsmith. The price of getting a new set might surprise you but figure that it takes lots of skill, training and time to fit a set to your scope and rifle.

If for some reason you feel that you don't want to afford a new set of claw mounts but want a different scope, please consider selling the rifle to someone who can use it the way it is and you can go on to another rifle with more standard scope mounts.

    Best of luck!
