How to "clean" nickel" finish

I know its been asked before, but traded for a model 19 Smith, that has been in a holster for 4 years. The Pachmeyer grips, have "joined the finish", and I need to know how to get this off, almost seems to have pitted the nickel. Had to "tear" off the grips. THANKS. nambu

  My favorite cleaner/polish is called Flitz...Available from Brownells. It is nonabrasive and also blue friendly.It will not, however, remove pits if they are present.

  A pencil eraser that is all gum without abrasive in it will take heavy tarnish off of most metals
