I use Hornady 240 grain XTP bullets, 23.6 grains of H110, IMI brass, and CCI large pistol magnum primers. This load has dropped deer in their tracks from my FA revolver.

You should give the Federal 300gr Cast core rounds a try. A nice hot factory load, solid lead bullet that DOESNT mushroom(but with a 44mag do you need any "expansion"?). I use it as a "plpinking" load because it has some nice recoil and is very accurate.
edit: I shoot it with my 629 classic hunter 6.5" [;)]

Thanks for the info guys. Not reloading right now. I have a little bit in the past but I don't have the time or the space in our current house to reload.

I saw the Speer Gold Dot 270gr loads at Sportsmans Warehouse yesterday along with offerings from Cor-bon and Hornady in other bullet weights.

I'll give the Speer's a try as they sound like a good load to carry in the field.
