Colt Combat Commander Series 70 .38 super auto
Hello. I was hoping someone could tell me what this gun is worth. It is a Colt Combat Commander .38 super auto purchased new by my dad in 1978. It is unfired, in its original box, has original sales receipt, and is a Series 70. Serial #70BS61080. Any help would be appreciated as he would like to sell it for a fair price and purchase a newer model .45. Thank you.

Hello IMHO keep the pistol you now have, A series 70 is by far better then a series 80 with colts attempt to not pay royality for the swartz safety. 0 -
Sorry, I should have said a newer model .45 either a Kimber or Springfield 1911-A1. 0 -
I've seen 70 series colt 38 supers go for as little as $600 (that's been 8-10 years ago) to upwards of $1300. Check on gunbroker for similiar guns to compare. If it is NIB and a 70 series 38 super it will be worth quite a bit. I would say keep it and if he wants a 45 buy it with other funds. Colt's are only going to go up in value and the gun you have is rare in it's condition. I wouldn't take less than $1200 for it, and that might be too cheap. 0
