AR headspace?

Is there a way to tighten up the headspace on an AR without replaceing the barrel. Just closes on a NO-go but not a field.

My border collie is smarter than your honor student.

  Since it wont close on a field it's safe to shoot.
  Try another or a new bolt . It might make the difference.
  Headspace is controlled by the position of the barrel nut on the barrel.
  It's a gunsmith job to adjust. Post on Kurts Custom Firearms for a price.
  I believe it will involve tightening the barrel nut one turn and rechambering.
