    Your probably thinking of the book(s) by C.W. Clawson. ( Colt .45 Service Pistols; Models Of 1911 And 1911A1 ) He self-published them, himself. They early ones were printed in very limited numbers. The first editions go for big bucks.

    Rufe has the most well known book pegged. Could there be another by someone named Meadow's ... maybe, but that name dosen't ring any bells with me.

    Clawson is an excellent reference for the serious collector.
