AR Barrel? Chrome Moly, chrome lined, stainless

Which one do I want? I shoot a lot of rounds fast. Figure 100 aimed shots in 2-3 minutes or so? I am leaning towards a Chrome lined, as that is what I have in my FN FAL, and it has treated me good so far. Maybe 4-5000 rds. Still shoots 2 moa or less always has, but I know AR's are a different beast. Which has the longest life, best accuracy etc.

    I don't suppose my information is of any value, because it's regarding the only 2 M-16s that I had anyexperience with and they were both nearly forty years ago, but for what it's worth: the 1st one had a regular production barrel, and it seemed to operate as well as the limitations of the design allowed, then it was turned in for a new improved one that had a chrome lined barrel and I became the proud user of a full-auto single shot. Most of the others in our unit that were issued M-16s from the same lot also had variations on that theme. After about 500 rounds and a couple days soaking in the armorers WD-40 tank, then it started working about like the first one did. I suppose they've corrected the problem- I just don't care for the memories that the spacegun elicits.

    it depends more on the quality of the barrel than whether it's chrome lined or not. I've seen chrome (factory bushy)that wouldn't work and chrome moly (shaw barrel on JT kit)that wouldn't jam. Most people think chrome lined barrels are more reliable, and this is probably usually true (but obviously there will be exceptions such as the above). I think if you get two equally well made barrels you would go with the chrome lined for reliability (since you're gonna be shooting rapid fire with it). It should last a little longer too, but it's not the "gotta have" thing that people make it out to be. You'd be happy with either if you get a good barrel (for instance, if you get a wilson barrel from ASA (american spirit arms) it will be a barrel with a good name, but will be a piece of junk due to the way ASA reams chambers with out of spec reamers, improperly drilled gas ports etc etc..). Check out WHERE you're buying from and if you have problems the good ones will take care of you.
