Smith and Wesson 627-0 "Model of 1989"

I just acquired a Smith and Wesson 627-0 "Model of 1989" in excellent condition, for what I thought to be a very fair price. I had been after one for some time now, and was very excited to actually find one. Based on what I have been told by other collectors, and by watching the forums and auctions, they are quite rare. I know there were 5000 of them made, and that they are the only stainless Smith and Wesson revolver to be made with a checkered top strap, but I can't seem to get a consistent number when I ask people about the price value of the gun. Does anybody here know? Any help would be greatly appreciated.[:)][:D]

    100% is 545....98% is 425


    Standard Catalog of Firearms page 1026..

    States there was 4500 of them made ...and 100% is 500 NIB....

    Its a version of the model 27...

    Supica's book "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" says:

    BEF in initial run of 278. Marked Model of 1989 on the barrel. A total of 5,276 manufactured in serial prefix BEF and BEK and BFP.
    After these,



    NIB $550.00

    Exc $410.00

    VG $300.00

    But this reference was published in 2001

    Sounds like a nice find. I got a first model 610 NIB this spring that is set up the same as your's, round butt, smooth combat grips except it is a 6 1/2" barrel.
