thats right. and im american. so tell me. what do i have to do to make a gun? be nice to me and my friend.[;)]

You can make any kind of handgun you want, as long as you have no state/local law that prohibits it. It just has to be for your own use. It can never be transferred, although there's no reason it can't stay with your family/friends. You don't even need a serial number, although BATF recommends that you apply one & register it with them.
The only thing that you need is the skill to make it.

Are you skilled in machining? If not, there are machinists out there who do private work (off the job, I mean) and if they are not willing to do it, they might be able to point you in the right direction. An acquiantance of mine did it this way. He just gave schematics, blue prints and rough ideas to a machinist who made several prototypes for him, until he was happy with it. The down-side was that it cost a bundle. Machinists charge for the prototypes as well.[8D] 0 -

IMO, unless you're a very talented craftsman (or something similar), you'll need complex tools, parts, and materials to make anything other than a flimpsy 2 shot capacity gun, that would probably be unstable.
There are books floating around that give information on how to make zip guns (jailhouse style guns). You can find those types of books here

It would probably be very expensive to make anything other than a zip gun.
You might want to ask a craftsman if he could teach you how. Of course some craftsman might be highly suspicious of this and call the cops - but if you're really a former navy seal that shouldn't be a problem.

However, in the spirit of discussion....
The main problem is the machining of parts like the receiver or pistol frame, the barrel, slide or cylinder. I'd suggest starting with a large tube of JB Weld....a putty-like substance that you can form in almost any shape you like. It dries into a metal.
Squeeze it from the tube and shape it into the pistol parts you need. If you plan to put the pistol into production, you can make up some cookie cutters and form the parts that way.
When finished, stamp it with a catchy name....something like "Jennings" sounds nice. Sell, and change your address.

if you all go to the gen discussion board, you will see that there was a thread from a chinese guy wanting info on how to build a handgun. everyone was ragging him about his broken english, so i told him he could post his questions under my thread and i would give him support. as you all know...i already build gun bbls, so i know the procedures and thank all that offered help. and thanks capt kirk for your support. just remember boss, im associated with seals, not actually one. i have a brain.[8D] so when jimmy posts here, help him out. if youve ever been overseas, you'd know how hard it is to communicate. and since the expert room is just that, lets be the experts the wolrd see us as and help.

I was following that thread for a few minutes.. the comments were coming fast and furious. I wasn't sure if it was for real or if someone had a bit of mischieveness in them.
