Cutting back a full choke barrel question
This topic came up on another board. If you cut back a full choke gun barrel 3 or 4 inches,im talking legal limit, would you still have a full choke or would it be more open, more towards improved cylinder?

If cut behind the choke, it will be cyl.

In a standard issue modern shotgun barrel all choke restriction is within an inch and a half or so of the muzzle. Basically, if you cut one without installing some sort of choke device you end up with a cylinder bored gun. 0 -
Most chokes are within the last four inches of the barrel, so if that amount is removed, the barrel will be "cylinder". Which actually works well if you then have it threaded for chose inserts, or have one of the variable choke devices installed. 0 -
Why don't you just measure it? That way you'll know.
I cut my 36" barrell full choke back to bore then had it theraded
for a screw in choke.[:D]0 -
Its for a home defence gun so i need a more open bore.
