Hello Idaho cowboy. Actually browning made several versions from 1955 to 1971. They were:
Browning Double automatic, Standard grade, Steel receiver
Browning Twelvette Double Automatic, aluminum receiver
    Browning Twentyweight Double Automatic

hope this helps you. Regards Dave

they kick like a mule. what made them popular guns on the trap field was you didnt have to break the gun to load it. the speed loader feature was where you could slide a shell into a loading port on the left side and it went right into battery. there wasnt a true trap version of the gun offered other than an optional trap stock. and it was only a straight trap type stock. you could order a center bead and that was about it for having a trap gun. the d. auto was never offered in m/c stock. overall, the gun wasnt popular with only 46,000 guns made in 17 years. shoot it and youll understand. 2 games of skeet was all i could take before i quit. on trap...those full house 1 1/8oz loads were brutal. keep in mind, these were belgian guns, so the chokes were metric. a full was really xfull and skeet was really i/c. all d. autos shot tighter patterns and people couldnt understand why. hope this helps.
