Sears Model 53

I got a Sears model 53 in .243 from my daa many years ago. I always assumed it was a Win model 70 from the way it looks.

The other day I was perusing [ul]The Gun Traders Guide[ul] from Stoeger and it said the m53 was made by Savage.

Anybody know for sure?

  The cross-over list in the B B, notes it's a Winchester Model 70.

  In the back of the Fjestad's "Blue Book of Gun Values" is a reference section. One of the references is a "Crossover List", that gives the original manufacturers of various "Store Brand" firearms.
