I have a howa action in 223. 22" bbl. I'm thinking on a re-barrel to 223, but longer, and heavier contour. Anything I should I know about the Howa action before I start? Gun shoots pretty well as is. THX HAWKSHAW

Sounds like a plan. Do a search for Elk Ridge Laminated stocks. Those guys make some really neat looking stuff for not a whole lot of money.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
    Got Balistics?

I second the boyds stock recomendation. Those CNC cut stocks are near drop in for actions like the Howa. They even will provide them externally finished. Their JRS classic laminates are great, maybe a little heavy, but very weather resistant. If you were to pick up the Howa in stainless you would have a great combo. My stable currently has 3 of the JRS classic laminates and is likely to grow as I will never be buying any synthetic stock ever again. As I see it I want either AA, or better walnut, or laminate. I wouldn't be shocked to find that you could put up your own stock given a JRS as the basis. Good luck....
