If the assault weapons ban goes away, can I build a rifle with a pre-ban kit and a post ban lower reciever legally? Thanks in advance for your help.
Also, are colapsable(spelled wrong?) stocks completely illegal on a post ban rifle or are there ways to modify the rifle to make those stocks legal on a post ban?

Do not I repeat do not deal with Model One Sales. Im not sure if you saw my post about me being screwed by them...look it up.
I just orderd a 16''Car kit from J&T with the chrome lined barrel...499.95...not too bad and the customer service is alot better.

Couldn't find your post about model 1 but I just helped a friend build a model 1 CAR and his went together and functions perfectly. I recommended JT to him but he went with Model 1 and I could not see any difference. If I were ordering a kit I would get JT. Model 1 and MA both have had a few problems with out of spec lower internals but both have a good reputation for taking care of any problems.

I posted it over in the general discussion forum. Model1Sales has a horrible horrible rep. when dealing with customers. Go to www.ar15.com go the ar15 forum and do some reading over there. They wont be getting any business from me or most of the members over there...ever.

I believe that Wilson and Shaw's are both manufacture small batch OEM lots for various companies. I own barrels by both on bolt action rifles and like the well. Both shoot minute of angle. Pick the one that is the length and weight that suits your needs best I doubt that you will be unhappy.

I did a search on all of your non-archived posts and I think it may have been deleted. I don't question you had problems, but I'm curious as to what they were. I am a member at AR.com and model 1 is pretty well regarded over there. Few problems with out of spec lower internals but nothing model 1 didn't make good on. I would not use anyone but JT for a kit; a local class 3 guy recommended them and of all the ones I have see they have the best and most consistant quality. It's worth $40 to KNOW you're getting good stuff. I'm still surprised that trooper had problems with Model 1 though; always heard they were a decent company. As for the barrels, I had an American Spirit Arms with a wilson barrel; the barrel was great but the rest of the gun was terribly out of spec and was not assembled correctly at all. The JT shaw barrels are just as good as the wilson. Far as I can tell they are equal. As for the chrome lined thing. The chrome moly barrels work fine for most people, and are arguable more accurate that chrome lined, but if you're gonna build a rifle why not spend 10% more for peace of mind? Chrome will last longer, and most of the time will function better with cheap (wolf)ammo (although I have seen a JT with chrome moly barrel that never jammed and a factory bushy with chrome barrel that choked on wolf every time (wolf is hit or miss ammo at best; some guns will eat it, some won't)

I'm trying to pick between two AR-15 A2 complete upper kits, one from J&T and the other from M&A Parts.

They seem to be entirely identical except the J&T kit is about $40 more and come with a Shaw barrel, and the M&A kit comes with a Wilson barrel.

Any ostensible difference between the two? They're both the same 1x9 chrome match moly.

If you've got another idea for a preferable kit, please let me know.

I have had only good experiences with www.model1sales.com
Also, their kits are a little less expensive than the other guys.
