Fair price for a Browning BAR 30-06
Hi, I am thinking of purchasing a Browning BAR 30-06 semi-auto - It is in excellent condition, with a scope 3-9x40 (unknown brand) a soft case, and 2 boxes of shells. Anyone have a good Idea what this is worth buying it from an individual? Any known issues with this gun I should be worried about? Thanks

Around here in NC I've seen them sell for around $500 as you described. $400 would be a good deal, $600 a bit high in my opinion.
The only issue I know with Brownings is they look too nice to hunt with and some of the early ones had salt treated wood causing the barrels/actions to rust under the wood line. Just take a look with the stock removed.

Thank you TWalker. I will keep the rust issue in mind. He wants $500 for the gun with everything that I listed. I dont like to pay what a gun is worth, I prefer getting a bargain of course. I just didnt want to offer him too little and piss him off. I think I will try $400 and see what he says. Anyone else have any knowledge of used value of this gun, and other issues? Thanks 0 -
After a little research I found that the salt dried stocks were used primarily on the over/under doubles (Superposed). You shouldn't have any problems like that on a BAR. 0 -
I sold mine for 500 without a scope or ammo or case, but these things are usually insignificant unless the scope is of a very high quality, so TWalker is right on in my opinion.
