Benelli Camo vs Non Camo
I am looking at purchasing a benelli Nova Pump and am wondering what is a better finish to buy. The Max 4, Advantage, or go with just the plain finish. I am worried about the camo finishes if they peal of, chip, tear or just the over all longevity of this verse the standard black finish. Thank You

MJ, Camo or no Camo, a stock keeps it's finish if you take care of it. I myself don't really see much need for a Camo finish, gun stocks are wood, they look like wood, I don't think a turkey cares if the gun looks like a tree, or a black spot, or camo. Having a gun with camo, in my opinion won't make you shoot better, or make more game come in to you. Just go with what you think looks better, or what.
It's not war untill someone breaks out the .50 calibers.0 -
Hello Mjclothiers:
I own the Nova with the standard black synthetic stock. As far as stocks go I don't think it really matters which one you go with. These guns are made to take a beating, yet function flawlessly(which they do). If you're that worried about the cammo finich pealing off, just go with the standard black. It dosen't flare ducks. Plus I don't think the cammo finish gives you much of an advantage over the regular stock. If you would rather have the cammo then buy it and don't worry about it. Benelli makes awesom shotguns, I'm sure they took that into consideration. Also I know several folks who have it with the cammo finish, and I've never heard a complaint.. Buy the one you like and take care of it, and just don't worry about it pealing off, I really doubt that it would. Have fun with your new shotgun..

I have a Super Black Eagle and I use several different patterns of the Kane Gun Chaps. However, I haven't been seeing them in catalogs lately so I'm wondering if they might have went under.
I agree that the matte black finish of the Benelli line shouldn't ever spook any game animal. I bought mine in '94 and have hunted it ever since and even when I'm not using the chaps, I've never felt I lost an animal because of them seeing the gun. I use the chaps more as a protectant than concealment.
One other thing, I think the camo hides the angular shape of some of the parts of the Nova that in my opinion makes it a little futuristic looking.0 -
I use the Nova Pump and have had it for about 2yrs now. The camo pattern has not shown any signs of wear and trust me on this, I use this gun a lot! It's been run through tree branches and even in water 1/2 way and never failed me. Great guns, great long-lasting camo pattern.
I think it's personal preference on the camo or black, I just like the camo pattern so that's what I got.
