varmint setup

I am thinking of putting together a new varmint gun with either a ADL model 700 or weatherby Vangaurd in 22-250. I know to spend as much on optics as possible, but money is an issue. Anyone have any experience with BSA or Millet scopes. Any other suggestions? I am looking at 4-12 or6-16 magnification range.

    My Dad has one on a .308 rifle, its never lost adjustment and is as true as a swiss clock. My next scope will be one of these.

    Thanks for the help.Picked up a 4-16 mildot BSA for $80.00. Mounted it on a sporter weight model 700 22-250. Can't wait to give it a go.

    One combo that is different from what you are looking at, but has treated me to an unbelievable level is a Bushmaster AR-15 Varmiter, and a Tasco Mildot scope. I was very impressed with the combo and if you are doing any praire doggin me opinion is that a semi-auto with high round mags is the only way to go.

    In all my 67 years I have yet to see a squad of prarie puppys attack in force.Boy do I have a lot to learn.High round mags???Oh woe is me,no wonder they call them assalt rifles, that even assalts me.

    I just feel that it is nice not having to keep reloading all the time. Each shot takes time, but I get sick and tired if yo miss a dog at 200 yrds to have to try and figure out again where I was shoting. The other great advantage to an ar-15 is that if you do a lot of shooting you can have a secondary barrel with to switch out or maybe a different cal. to shoot them with. I like the AR-15 with a heavy and fluted barrel something that will get rid of heat fast.

    I am with MJ on this one. I own a few target rifles one is a Bushmaster AR-15 Varmiter. I have a Tasco 3-9x40 on it now but will be upgrading to a IOR (bought one, now I dont like the rest of my scopes). I thought is would just be a fun gun but OOOOHHHHH WOW. I reload all of the rounds that go through it. My load has been surplus pulled powder, once fired mixed brass, and 55gr nosler balstic tips. I also have a Rem 700P LTR (see factory target rifle used by LE). Again load all my own rounds. Load is comercial powder, new clean matched brass, and 168gr combined tech bullets. My AR-15 will out shoot the bolt gun all day. I would have never belived it untill I did it over and over again. I also did just buy another bolt gun (Weatherby .243 SVM and topped it with a 6-24x50 IOR almost $3000 set up) so I am not bashing them. I am just saying that dont knock the AR untill ya try it, it is an awsome set up for squirls out to several hundred yards.

    PS havent got time to give the SVM a good run down yet. [V] Hopefuly soon.

    I have shot the bushmaster varmint rifle. Very, very good. My best ever was 89 dogs with 100 shots. That was done with a remington varmint. rifle, jewel trigger, 12 x leoupld scope. All shots from one place. To bad the town was distroyed by weed and pest control.

    I recently bought a Remington 600 in 6mm that came with a Simmons 6x18x40 Pro Hunter scope and after using it this past weekend at the ranch to help rid us of the pestilence known as feral hogs i was very impressed with that scope.
