Rust problem.....on my mag.

Ok, Heres the deal, I have a Beretta 92FS that I use for duty and for recreational shooting. I noticed that I had some rust spots on my pistol mags after it rained out here a few days ago. Is there any way I can prevent this from happening again ?

    Use Eezox w/0000 steel wool. Works great and doesnt bother bluing, wood , etc. It protects against moisture plus is a great lube.[:)][:)]

    Beretta 92 and 96 magazines tend to end up with a rust spot on the rear, near the base, because of how the rear of the mag extends slightly out of the well. When carried in a holster this channels water right down the back of the mag.

    Either use a good rust preventive, such as Break Free, whenever you know you'll be out in the rain or keep a coat of car wax on this area of your mag just in case.

    Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner and 0000 steel wool also works great.

    There is a simple way to reduce rust, take a rag, and wipe down you're gun after you're done. All the salt and oils from you're hands, results in rust on the metal. Like Duckhunter said, use Rem-oil, or any form of lubricant. Dab it on a rag, and every day you get done using the firearm, wipe it down. And don't store guns in a case, because the moisture will rust the gun as well.

    I use a product called Rig I have used this product on all my firearms . Rig is a clear grease that is applied with a Rig Rag . I have hunted in all kinds of weather from rain to snow I have never had any rust on any of my firearms . When I return from a hunting trip I take my firearm out of the case and let it warm up, and dry then I apply more Rig . I apply Rig anytime I handle my firearms and equiptment . Hope this is helpful

    I've had very good luck in the past with a good quality Carnuba automotive paste wax. I use Mother's Gold on my mags plus it is also very effective for sealing stainless barrels, etc.

    Men, like bullets, go farthest when they are smoothest.

    If they are factory mags. Have them coated with NP3 finish or gun coat them. I have used a product call Kal Gaurd on some. You can lay them in salt water for a week and they will never rust.
