s&w brass plate i.d. please
it came from my uncles basement. its a brass plate about 2"x4" that has a very early tip up style gun with no trigger guard etched into it. it says: 'mfg'ed only by smith and wesson, springfield, mass., in a sweeping curve above and below the gun. what does it go to? was it an accessory with a gun or something sold from the catalog? it has no hardware on back that would make it a belt buckle. its just a flat piece of brass. thanks in advance.

Suspect it was part of a sales display. Does the back show an signs of possibly having been glued?
A picture would be nice as I could maybe match it up with something in my library.

my 586 is getting fixed, so this 486 doesnt have a camera port in it. no signs of glue anywhere. its got weight to it. its not paper thin at all. its like the thickness of a skilsaw blade. (1/8") thanks for the ideas. did s&w ever make bullet boards? its like the thing youd see in the middle of something like that. 0 -
