I HAVE RAN INTO THIS RIFLE A LONG TIME AGO
IT WAS A WESTERN AUTO REVULATION 30 - 30
LEVER ACTION (SIMILAR TO A MARLIN)
CAN ANY ONE TELL ME THE HISTORY
AS I KNOW WESTERN AUTO WAS A AUTOMOBLE PARTS DEALER NOW ONWED BY ADVANCED AUTO PARTS
I HAVE PURCHASED THE RIFLE AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE ($45.00)
IS IT WORTH IT ?
IT IS IN REMARKABLE CONDITION TO BE AS OLD AS I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS

ALSO THANKS FOR THE HELP ON THE BRAZILAN SHOTGUN

I GET A KICK OUT OF THE UNUSAL GUNS THANKS

THE MODEL # IS 200
THE TRIGGER DOES STAY IN THE HOUSING WHEN IN THE COCKED POSSITION
I WILL SAY A 90 OUT OF 100 AS FAR AS CONIDITION

    Does the trigger stay in the lever housing when you cock it? If so it is a Mossberg. They made lever action 30-30's in the 70's and 80's that were sold by Western Auto, Montgomery Wards, and with the Mossberg name. They were good guns.

    "Revelation" is whats known as a "Store Brand" or "Trade Name". Manufactures produced firearms for a specific retailer using these names.

    Savage, High Standard & Mossberg also manufactured firearms for Western Auto to be sold under the "Revelation" name.

    You got a outstanding deal on your rifle if you were able to buy it for $45. The gods were smiling on you that day.

    That link will take you to Gun Parts Corp.'s crossover list. With the model number of your revelation you can figure out the manufacturer and original model number. Western Auto, Sears, Wards and other retail chains contracted manufacturers to produce firearms under the store name or a store brand name like revelation. Usually, these models were economy versions of a manufacturers model, usually having plain wood, fixed sights instead of adjustable, less fancy checkering etc. This allowed the stores to sell a working mans version of the original model at a price below the original. In used guns there are two market levels. Collectables-guns that have generated collector interest and consequently higher prices, and Shooters-essentially used guns that have generated little or no collector interest. The department store guns fall into the latter cateqory. While the original model may have generated some collector interest, the store brand will always sell for less in the same condition. The other main factor in value is condition: the higher the condition (the nearer to "new" condition) the higher the price. If your rifle is functional rifle it is almost certainly worth $45. If the condition is high, you got a real bargain. We would need the model number and an accurate appraisal of condition (expressed as a % of new condition), to begin to offer any guesses at value beyond that.

    Me thinks what you have there may be a Marlin.My dad has a Revelation 30-30 lever action that he bought from the owner of the Western Auto store here in about '65 or so.He (the owner) had used it on one hunt and sold it to Dad for $65 w/scope,zipper case and most of a box of shells.I don't remember the model no.,but I do know that it is identical to my brother's Marlin.

    The other fellas are spot on. Heck, that's as cheap as most used .22's. And the good part is you can afford more ammo, more guns, more ammo,more.....
