Good recoil pad for Rem. 700 limited Classic????
Where in the heck can I buy a good recoil pad for my 2004 Remington 700 Classic limited. It is an 8 mm Mauser with what looks to me like a small buttstock and I cannot find any recoil pad that will fit without altering it. I was hoping to go the inexpensive route and just buy one of the prefitted ones but I can't find any kind that will come close to fitting.
Anybody know of one?

Sims Limbsaver is the best recoil pad. Remington bought them so I would suggest contacting Sims or Remington and see if they make one that fits. If not they have the slip on pads.

Modle 700's arn't the heaviest gun in the world, and including the 8mm, I bet it'd pack quite a punch, either go with what Travis has to say, or see what Uncle Mike's might have. You don't need the most expensive recoil pad to do the trick.. Hell, duck tape a pillow to the stock, that should do something [:D]
It's not war untill someone breaks out the .50 calibers.0 -
I AGREE WITH MADDOG, THE LIMBSAVER PADS ARE GREAT. THEY OFFER A PRE-FITTED FOR THE 700 . THE PREFITTED PADS WILL ADD ABOUT 1" TO YOUR LENGHT OF PULL. WITH A GRIND TO FIT THE STOCK IS SHORTEN BY THE THICKNESS OF PAD TO ACHIEVE ORIGINAL L.O.P. . I HAVE A SLIP ON LIMBSAVER AND ONLY USE IT FOR FOR BENCH SHOOTING . YOU CAN EASILY REMOVE THE SLIP ON WHEN YOUR DONE AND HUNT WITHOUT IT , YOU DON'T NEED TO ALTER YOUR RIFLES STOCK .

well you could put a limb saver or a kick eez pad on it, or you could just sell it to me(just kidding). If it was an 8mm mag I would be serious though! 0 -
LimbSaver makes one marked specifically for Remington's. If memory serves it is called the R3 and has the Remington brand on it instead of Limbsaver. 0 -
most any pad has to be fitted by a qualified person. As no 2 stocks will be exactly the same in exterior dimensions,..the pad has to be large enough to be ground down to match the stock's shape.
I agree Kick-eez and limbsaver are the best at recoil reduction,..but due to that, they are the softest pads and will tear much more easily.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

So instead of altering the rifle, why not get one of these pads that you sew into a shirt or jacket? They of course also strap on, but the other is much easier. They work well with any and all hard kicking rifles and you leave them ready for field use......... 0 -
thanks for the feedback everybody.[:)]

Tr Fox,
Click the Midway link in my sig line, then type in 700 Recoil pad in their search. They have pre sized Houge pads, Limbsavers, Pachmayr Decelerators. hope this helps .
