What is the difference between a Colt 357 King Cobra and a Python? Is a Python worth the extra cost?

  Colt introduced the King Cobra, in the hopes of producing an affordable product that law enforcement would actually buy and use. If the cops buy it and use it, generally, the shooting public will follow.
  The action system of the King Cobra was re-designed to eliminate the time consuming hand crafted work done on the Python. The vent rib was eliminated to save money also. The King Cobra was manufactured using investment cast steel technology, instead of being machined from solid blocks of steel.
  Those shooters that own Pythons enjoy the mystique, the legend, the status of having a fine production revolver. A King Cobra can be finely tuned (by a competent gunsmith) to perform almost as well, or just as well as the best Pythons, but even the Pythons vary somewhat in quality.
  Are you confused yet? I own a 1970's production nickel Python, cause I like saying I got a Python.

  I agree with TROOPERALLEN. All things considered the Python is a higher quality firearm.
  
  Truth be known, I bought it cause I liked the way it looked and felt.
  
  I would also advise going with the Royal Blue. It is the most desired finish.

  just feel the action when cocking a Python slowly and you'll never go back - I like the 4"

  Thanks for the info. I have a chance to trade for a King Cobra in excellent condition. I would have about $450 in it if I trade.
