    Hello ozbud...

An original factory installed Vent rib does indeed add a hefty premium to the value of a Winchester Model 12. However, at least half of the existing Model 12s with Vent ribs are aftermarket add-ons... and there is no premium for those.

You haven't provided nearly enough information about your particular Model 12 for any of us here to give you a value estimate.

    Is it marked "Trap"?
    What is the barrel length?
What type of choke (integral, or external mounted)?
Original butt plate or a recoil pad?
Is the rib marked on the right side of the rail?
What condition is the gun in?
Is the superposed "WP" (in an oval) present on the barrel?

In addition to answering the above questions, posting a few pictures of it would help us imensely.

The only exception that I can discern is the Pachmyr recoil pad.

You can send pictures to me at Win1885@msn.com. Please include a clear photo of the "WP" proof marks, the "TRAP" mark.
