polish bore

hello;

barrel is as clean as a electronic bore cleaner can make it. wish to polish the inside of the barrel to remove tool marks. barrel fouls in the last 3". not sure if jb's bore paster is course enough. running about 50-50, good vs. bad on fire lapping. any suggestions. thanks

  If you're wanting to remove tool marks that are deep enough to make cleaning a pain, either hand lapping or fire lapping will do the job without wearing out your arms and days of cleaning material, including J-B Bore compound (I've tried it - voice of experience).
  
  The fire lapping kits available from Beartooth Bullets, NECO or Tubb will all explain how to use either cast lead or jacketed bullets and have suggested powder and loads to use. The kits normally come with 3 grades of lapping compound. There's enough to do a bunch of rifles/handguns with compound left over. Found it useful for lots of other applications, such as lapping in scope rings and breaking the edge on knives.
