    Does anybody produce 6mm rem hollow point ammunition....or can i shoot .243's out of my ruger 6mm

    I reload, so I don't know if anyone is producing HP 6mmRem ammo.
    As for your second question, NO you can't use 243Win (6mm X 51) ammo in a 6mm Rem (6mm X 57) chamber, dispite the fact that the bullet diameter is the same.

    Even though the .243 Winchester and 6mm Remington both have the same bore diameter of .243 inches (6mm is simply the metric measurement), the ammo is NOT interchangable as the cartridge cases are completely different sizes and shapes. Since the bullets themselves are the same, if you handload you have a wide choice of bullets to choose from. You can buy or order 6mm Remington ammo with hollow points from any good gun store. I recommend soft point bullet weights of 100 grains or higher for deer and save the hollowpoints and lighter weights for varmints. Many deer have been taken successfully with hollowpoints however, so the choice is yours. The 6mm is a great combination varmint/deer/ antelope cartridge. I hope you enjoy your rifle. With a scope you should be able to shoot 1 inch groups at 100 yards if you own a bolt action, and 2 inch groups, maybe less, with an autoloader, at least in my experience.
