winchester model 70 value
can anyone tell me what this gun is worth its a 270cal. pre 64 in good shape

I have a Winchester model 70 Super Grade in .270, made in 1948, that has about 98% original finish on the stock and barrel/reciever. However, it has an ECHO detatchable scope mount screwed onto the side of the receiver. I know this devalues the rifle, but by how much? I haven't been following model 70 prices recently so I don't really know where it sits.

depends on the vintage-pre war, transition. or post war. give the serial # and the condition and we can start an appraisal. Is it a std rifle, carbine, target, or supergrade? 0 -

As an example, I bought a M70 of the transitional style- that is, the safety was the horseshoe shape, with the sleeve of Pre-war style, in 270, with unaltered wood, not bare spots on the blueing, with a Leupold Pioneer scope in adjusto-mounts, about a year ago, for $700 from a private party. My understanding was that "book" on it, w/o scope, was $750. 0 -
