    I bought a Franchi Renaissance field 20 gauge over and under this fall. It has a rubber butt plate that catches in the pit of my arm when I aim it. I want to find a plastic butt plate that I can have a local gunsmith fit on it. Any suggestions on where to find one?

    Franchi is now owned by Beretta, presumably any Beretta dealer can get Franchi shotguns for you.

    You are most welcome! I have an older Franchi (1960's) and love it. I think you will be pleased with yours.

    we have had 3 in the shop for repair this year...
    theres a plastic piece in the bolt / carrier unit that breaks...
    all 3 guns, same part...
    they were all older models...
    overall a good gun though.

    1: Any stocking gun dealer of practically any size can order you a Franchi.

    2. You did not tell us what kind of Franchi you are interested in. In side x side shotguns, you can spend anywhere from about $1200 for a boxlock model to $20,000 for a sidelock. In over/unders, you can spend anywhere from $600 for a "field-grade" to $4000 for an "Aristocrat" model. In semi-automatics you can spend $600 for a "field-grade" to $3000 for an "Imperial" model.

    3. If you go with a semi-auto such as the AL-48, "mrmike08075" is correct about the bolt carrier on the older shotguns. I don't have a "new" one, so I can't give you any information about their durability. If it is a shotgun, and it isn't at least 25 years old --- then I don't have one. But even with its fault --- the AL-48 is still a fine "field" machine. And in 28 gauge, you can't keep them on the shelves in quail country of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, or Mississippi.
