I purchased some 30-30 Accelerator ammo quite awhile ago, but never fired it. One question I had was it it pointed ammo and I was told never to shoot pointed ammunition in a tube feed magazine.
Is this stuff supposed to be single loaded, or is the recoil so low due to the 22 cal bullet that there is no chance of having the rounds in the magazine go off?
Thanks.0 -
I have a bunch of accelerators in .308 and 30-06, but use them in guns that dont have a tube mag so no problem.
If you are planning to use them in a Win 94 for example, I would shoot one at a time since they have a very pointed .223 cal bullet and there is a risk of setting of the whole tube. I think Remington primers are relatively soft when compared to other manufacturers, but I could be wrong.
With a little practice you can "combat load" one at a time through the top pretty fast. If not completely confident I would error on the side of safety.
As you mentioned there would be much less recoil due to the lighter package going down the barrel but since the saboted .223 bullet has a sharper tip than the 30-30 bullet, it may negate the benefit of the reduced recoil.

LL is *definitely* right about single loading the .30 WCF ammo in a traditional tubular mag lever action.
Don't expect spectacular accuracy with this ammo, either.

1 in the tube, 1 in the chamber. I load my 35 remington like this when I use those pointed Single shot pistol bullets in it.
