Correctly measuring groups

Can you guys give me the correct explanation on measuring a three shot group.
This is the only way(maybe) to get a very stubborn co-worker to see the erorr of his way.[:D]

  Simple... measure the distance from the center of each hole to the center of the other two holes. The largest distance that you come up with, is your group size. This holds true for 5-shot, 10-shot, or however many shots you decide to perforate the target with. To come up with an aggregate group size, shoot several 3-shot groups, measure them as before, add all the group sizes together, and then divide by the total number of groups.

  It is a little easyer to mesure from outside edge to outside edge of the group then subtract the diamiter of one bullet to get the center to center mesurement without having to guess at where the center of the bullet holes are.

  Rexyguns way is easier. Just measure from the closest edge of the first hole, to the farthest edge of the second and third hole, or if measuring a larger group, ie, five shot, or whatever, use the farthest hole edge, and that measurement is your group size. If you use the same measurement all the time, it will become like second nature to you.
