Winchester Model 12 barrel
I've got a Model 12 in 12 ga. with a 30" full choke, straight steel barrel. The S/N is
639XXX and was made in 1930. I'd like to change the barrel to one better suited for
hunting quail in brush and timber. I was thinking of something like a 26 or 28" inch,
vent rib preferably or straight, modified choke. Any suggestions as to where would I
look for another barrel?
Thanks for any help.

I was thinking about putting another barrel on my model 12 Winchester, the barrel on it now has a cutts compensator on it.Can I put just another barrel on it, or do I need the complete barrel assembly. 0 -
The cost of fitting a different barrel to your model 12 is very prohibative.
I would think you would be better off looking for a good condition 16ga with a modified choke for those quail and save the pre war 12ga for ducks [with bismuth or tung matrix] and late season pheasants.....
Does your 12ga have a nickel steel or proof steel barrel....1930 was the period for that changeover...
