Iver Johnson T56550

Looking for more data on a recent find that I wrote on earlier.
I have an Iver Johnson, five shot, revlover. Now I found the Sn. T56550 or T585500.
Any knowledge on this.

  jal1414,
  iver johnson's arms & cycle works used the "T" letter code on the 'safety automatic hammer revolver' in 1907 and 1908. your revolver with a serial number over 50,000 was manufactured in early 1908. it is a second model manufactured for black powder cartridge pressures and is "not" safe with modern smokeless ammunition. the caliber is 38 s&w, standard barrel length was 3 1/4 inches with 4,5,&6 inch barrel available at extra cost. the standard finish was nickel with blue being optional. cost in 1908 $6.00 and hammerless version $7.00.
  
  the safety automatic revolver was manufactured between 1894 and 1941. there are three models, first model 1894-1896 (black powder), second model 1897-1908 (black powder) and third model 1909-1941 (smokeless powder. there were two frame sizes and hammer and hammerless versions of both frame sizes and four calibers.
  
  there were approx. 1,000,000 of the second model 38 caliber hammer models manufactured between 1897 and 1908. production of all frame sizes, calibers and hammer/hammerless versions was over 10,000,000 between 1894 and 1941.
  
  most of the pricing guides give a date in the 1950's as the end of production. this is incorrect as those model sold after wwII were assembled from parts on hand at the beginning of wwII. there are no records of any new production of the safety automatic revolver or the model 1900 double action after wwII.
