Colt Mustang value after customization

I have a blued colt mustang in excellent shape that I am considering having some work done to. I'd like to have Novak lo-mount sights installed, which includes machining the slide for the front sight to fit into. After that is done, it will need to be refinished. Should I send it to Colt for the factory finish to be put back on, or should I go with one of these Tuff Coat finishes? I plan on keeping the gun for a very long time, but I am wondering what will this type of work do to the value of the gun? The type of work I am having done is pretty expensive, so I might re-think it if I am going to be left with a gun that is worth less than what it is right now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks![:)][:D][8D][?]

  mho; Gun will be worth less. Custom guns do not seem to sell well.

  I'd say that if you are going to keep it them do whatever makes the gun better. Value is something only for antiques IMO. If I buy a gun, I want it to be MY gun.
