What do the letters mean the Stevens 311???

I just bought a Stevens 311H. I have been trying to look some information up on the 311's. I can't seem to find much. I was wondering if anyone knew what the letters mean on the 311? I have seen 311A, 311H, 311C, 311R, 311? I would really like to know what the letters stood for? Fancier model, diferent versions. I read that the 311H was the "Waterfowl" version of the 311?

  311R = riot (law enforcement.)
