Springfield G.I. .45s

Have recently purchased a Springfield G.I. MicroCompact and Champion.
Noticed the words "IMBEL BRAZIL" stamped lightly on the bottom of the frame just ahead of the trigger guard. What operations and how much
of the manufacture of these guns was done in Brazil? I thought everything Springfield was genuine U.S.A. Have I been duped yet
again?

  To the best of my knowledge most of the Springfield 1911's are assembled from Brazilian made parts.
  
  Back in the late 80's I bought a new Springfield that was on sale at one of the large local gun stores. It DID NOT have any Brazilian markings. The serial number had the prefix "NM". Never have been able to find out if this was made for Springfield by a U.S. manufacturer?

  Imbel makes the frame for Springfield, they are forged and are excellant quality. And as far as I know that is hte only Brazilian part on it. But if I am wrong you shouldnt get upset, because there are two major manufacturers in Brazil(Imbel and Taurus) both of which make quality products.

  Hello in WW I and WW II there were many firms that made GI 1911/1911A1 Colt,Ithaca ,Remington Rand, Singer Us&S ,and Springfield Armory. This is NOT the same co. as Springfield Arms today they are just useing the name they never made G I gun. quote:"PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN"
