    I would go with a SAR 1 2 or 3. My 2 cents [8D]

There is a great deal of welding and riveting involved in building an AK at home. Additionally if you don't lengthen the barrel on some of the kits, you are in violation of federal law and looking at a felony. To further complicate things if you don't change out enough parts you are in violation of federal law and looking at a felony. Further, if you don't replace or modify some of the original parts into semi-auto configuration you are in violation of federal law and looking at a felony.

Unless you have access to all the necessary knowledge, tools, parts and equipment, I would just pay the extra money and get a factory built one. One last thing to think about, if you build it, and it doesn't work, or soon falls apart, you have no one to fall back on. Buy a factory built one and have a problem and you have some one to return it to for repair or replacement. Just some things to think about.
