Kel Tec Forum?
I have a first-generation P3AT that FTEs fairly often. I understand that this was a problem that Kel-Tec fixed with their second-generation model. I remember seeing a Kel-Tec owner's forum posted somewhere, but darned if I can find it. Anyone know where it is? Any info on how to fix the first-generation FTE problem? I've tried everything---different ammo, a strong grip, well-cleaned and lubed, but it will still FTE every so often. It doesn't matter which load in the magazine, either, it could FTE on the first round as easy as on the last, so I don't think it is a magazine problem.
Yeah, I know, "Buy a better handgun," and if there was one that weighed just over seven ounces, I would, but this one is so small, it goes everywhere with me----I just want it to work first time, every time.

Thanx, Rufe, this is the place I visited when I first got my Kel-Tec---I lost the site when I got a new computer and wiped out my "favorites." 0 -
Here's a better site........http://ktrange.com/ 0 -
Look at the report by flybob last dated Sept 21 on KTRange. Polishing the ramp, chamber and modifying the exractor per instructions gave me 100% reliability including rapid fire with heavy handloads. You could also polish the bolt face- anything that adds drag to chambering or resistance to extraction. Don't do the hood modification. I sent the extractor plus a long winded explanation to Keltec on 9/5. They focussed on the problem and came up with a new extractor that I haven't seen yet but is claimed to work and will send you one. You have to drive out a rollpin to remove the parts or send in the slide.
KTOG will allow open dialog while the moderator/owner of KTrange will not and has banned me.
Don't be put off by the limp wrist syndrome defense for failure to extract/eject. It's a design problem.
If you have further problems post them here or on KTOG.0 -
Kel-tec is also very good about taking care of their products and will polish the internals for free. However, with the hurricanes down there they're probably running behind. 0 -
