Walther value/cal info on another
I hope this isn't to long of a post but here is my request.I recently acquired several pistols and need some info about a couple.One is a Walther,on the left side of the receiver is the words SELBSTLADE-PISTOLE Cal 7.65 WALTHER'S PATENT. and on the right side is Carl Walther.WAFFENFABRIK Zella St.Blasii. serial # is 216xxx.Would like to know what ammo it takes and if it is safe to use.Also,I have a small pistol with the words TYPE POLICEMAN on the left side of the receiver and on the right side is MANUFACTURE FRANCAISE D'ARMES CV CYCLES DE SAINT-ETIENNE.Also on the right side is a small lever that slides down and the barrel flips open in an upward position.On each grip is MF with the last line of the M and the vertical line of the F overlapped.Also on the bottom of the magazine is a steel loop that is possibly for a lanyard.Any info would help,thanks in advance,Bob.

Your Walther pistol is more then likely a "Model 4". It can be precisely dated by the slide legend, "Zella St Blasii" was replaced by "Zella-Mehlis" shortly after the end of the First World War. It fires standard .32 Auto ammo, that is available everywhere. If you have any reservations about it's safety take it to a COMPETENT Gunsmith for inspection and test fireing.
Your other pistol is Le Francais Auto. made in France. The steel loop on the bottom of the magazine is for a extra cartridge. They are very well made, but not common in this country. The most common are in .25 calber, occasionally one is found in 9mm Browning Long Caliber.
