PTR 91
I just picked up a PTR 91 (HK91 clone) and fired off about 15 rounds. Each piece of brass ejected is dented on one side (small dent, but makes the shells useless to reload) and the neck of the brass seems scored by rifling marks. Should I be worried about this? Is it just the extractor/ejector denting the brass as it ejects the cartridge? If anyone knows, let me know. Thanks in advance!

I have no specific experience with the PTR clones, but I have with HK's in general. Due to their operating system and fluted chambers they are generally very hard on brass. At one time their was a rubber/plastic? "BUMPER" available that fit on the ejection port of the 91's, so the brass would be usable for reloading. Don't know if it is available fot the PTR's?

The shells will reload with out a problem as long as they are Boxer and not Berdan primed. The dent and scoring are cosmetic. There is a "Port buffer" ($40.00)that keeps the shell casing closer when ejected and it helps on the dents which are recieved when ejected. More info at www.HKPro.com and www.HKweaponsystems.com. Ditto what RSLINTII said ... I've been reloading them for years.
You can also find them here ... www.pof-usa.com ... they aren't an exact replica of the HK design but they work..If you really want to do something, you'll find a way ...

I've had a problem getting the port buffer on/off my HK without scratching the reciever.
HK 91 is far more reliable then any FAL, Valmet, M1A or any other semi auto I've used. With or without a port buffer it will feed and fire almost anything (partially resized reloads, low power ammo, hard primers, etc).
Didn't realize how reliable it was until I tried the other 308 semi auto's
