Benelli Super Sport

Would you recommend heavy load or slug for the Super sport.

I would like to know this because I went to a local shop and one of their clerk told me that the Super sport was not made for heavy load and also it was just for light load.

Can any body clarify this for me because I'm thinking about buying one.

    If you're talking about the Benelli Centro Super Sport (can't see there's any other "Super Sport" Benelli outthere.)

    The Centro Super Sport is "just" a Benelli Centro with a more fancy and adjustable stock.

    The Benelli Centro Super Sport have the same mechanical specs as the Benelli Centro.

    The Benelli Centro takes loads from 28 grams and to 56 grams.
    If 28 grams = 1 Oz load.. then it shoots from 1 to 2 Oz loads.


    There's no rifled barrel available for the Centro.


    But yes, you can use heavy loads in the Centro Super Sport.

    I would use rifled slugs for hunting with that gun - saboted are no good unless you have a rifled barrel and Benelli haven't got a rifled barrel available for the Centro.

    I also wouldn't give it a second thought to push heavy loads through it.


    OOPS.. forgot to mention.. I'm looking into the Centro Super Sport myself - either that or the M4 with all the trimmings. =o)

    I'm not sure because the one I'm talking about is carbon fiber stock which is almost the same as the Benelli sport 2

    If its the same gun then I would purchase it. From Benelli website, it seems that its the same barell on the Super Black Eagle II.

    I might have slept a little bit here...

    The receiver has the same outline as the Benelli Rafaello Crio.
    The thing that gave it away was the "Cryogenically" treated barrel, so far Rafaello is one of those awailable with treated barrel.

    It seems that the US models are names slightly different than the ones we get overhere.

    The "Super Sport" model you mentioned, don't have Cryogenically treated barrels - and the "Super Sport" is just a "last name" of the gun.
    The US model seems to have lost the italian name Crio and just been named "Super Sport" - eventhough there's a whole other gun named Centro Super Sport in Europe.

    We also haven't seen the fancy carbonfibre stock overhere.


    Well, The Rafaello model is still chambered in 2?" to 3" shells.
    It still has a burst-pressuretest guaranteeing it will hold up to 1370Bar.

    For a gun that is chambered for 3" (and shorter) cartridges - I would have no second thoughts about sending heavy loads through it or slugs through it - offcourse observing that you don't use a choke that is too constricted.!!
