Loose barrel on a custom 243

    Unless you have the proper tools (barrel vice, action wrench, go/no-go gauges, finish reamer, lathe) you need to take it to a compatent gunsmith (not whoever put it together the first time).
    The barrel shank needs to sit aganst the inner ring, having the barrel shoulder touch the receiver face is optional. The barrel needs to be torqued into the receiver to approxamitly 250ft pounds.

    Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

    this is not something you can do yourself, the 250 ft/lbs tailgunner mention is a bit much but should be >100 ft/lbs
