I think companies are letting the 3rd parties take the risk first. They don't want to spend all the money getting hicaps into production and find that the market isn't there. The gun shops I went to right after the ban could have cared less. They almost made it seem like a joke.

I just know that I have a 10/22 and would like a genuine Ruger hicap mag...or something that isn't from Butler Creek and made of clear plastic.

Listen I'm not trying to be a stick in the mud but if there is a market out there why not take advantage of it. I would be willing to buy 4 high cap. magazines right now.

My reasons are NOT because I feel that i need the extra rounds bur rather because i spoke with a technician at H&K who told me that most of these double stack mags. were not designed to handle 10 rounds and he wasn't just talking about HK. I have had numerous problems which I won'r bore you with accept to say that HK isn't alone here. I just want the part that works so i can have a reliable firearm. You see my gun was 100% reliable for about 5,000 rounds but it isn't any longer and that's hard to accept.

    Am I being unrealistic?

I've talked to people with HKs, Glocks and SIGs and they have all ran in to stovepipes and other feeding issues as the mags age.

I thought I was on to something when I saw all of the 45s get metal mags. I figured the 40s maybe suffer from early fatigue in the metal feed lips of the magazines bonded to the polymer. Maybe the combination of the 10 round limit plus the plastic mag. body combine to result in a relatively short reliability period.

If that's the case I would prefer that someone would just say it. Either that or offer some exchange program (even if there is some cost to offset the factory's loss).

I for one would take it under serious consideration.

I know I'm a junior member and that probably makes me annoying before I even write anything but don't those of you who have been around have an opinion on this?

    Thanks for your time.

Glock is shipping 2 hicaps with each of their new new guns. We have a new Glock 17 that came with 2 hicaps non LEO marked in the shop. Beretta is running a promotion that if you buy a fulsize Beretta 92 or Vertec they will send you 2 free hicaps at no charge if you fill out the coupon and send it in.

Sigarms will gladly sell you a high-cap(?) 12rd. mag for your SP2340; trouble is, they want $50! I solved that problem years ago with the purchase of some Baby Eagle 41AE mags (they hold 12rds. of 40/357) and only cost me $20.
Then again, I bought 4 Mini-14 LEO mags right after the ban was lifted for $25ea.

The companies that are making hi caps, and always have. They don't need to tool up , they just need to stop making restricted capacity mags. Normal capacity mags were always made for LEO. This is assuming that the gun i question is a possible choice for an LEO.

HK is in Germany. The expiration of the assault weapons ban doesn't cover imports. Does it cover imported magaizines? I was under the impression that imported anything was covered by a different ban and therefore nothing has changed concerning imports

Try cleaning your mags and installing new springs before you do anything drastic.

H&K makes magazines and clips in the US. They have a production plant over here.
